LEADERS OF THE LATINO GREEK MOVEMENT
DOLORES HUERTALambda Theta Phi had the absolute pleasure of hosting legendary Latino civil rights activist Dolores Huerta on campus at UH.
Huerta co-founded the National Farm Workers Association with Cesar Chavez in 1962 and has been a civil rights leader for over 50 years |
BUS DRIVER APPRECIATIONOn campus at UH Lambda Theta Phi brothers treat our hard working shuttle us drivers to donuts and coffee.
We are proud to have done this annually since 2007. |
BACKPACK DRIVEBrothers of Lambda Theta Phi collected dozens of backpacks for local elementary school students.
Lambdas also take part in tutoring, reading, and fundraisers to help giveback to the community that raised us. |
HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTHThe Lambdas have hosted several Hispanic Heritage Month events on campus to bring awareness of all Latino cultures to the incredibly diverse UH student body.
Keynote speakers include Founding Father Agustin Garcia and City Council candidate Bolivar Fraga |
HURRICANE RELIEFThe Houston area has been affected by a handful of hurricanes in the past decade. Starting with volunteering during Hurricane Katrina evacuations at the Astrodome in 2005, Lambdas have pitched in during every major storm.
After Hurricane Ike in 2008, Lambdas replaced uprooted trees on campus and volunteered at the Houston Food Bank. |
GREEK UNITYAlthough we are a historically Latin organization, we collaborate with all other sororities and fraternities on campus.
Over the years, we have developed strong relationships throughout the Greek life system at the University of Houston. |
GRADUATION
We understand the end goal of a college education is graduation. Our chapter graduation rate is 29% higher than the national average for college students, and also higher than the national average for Greeks. Our proudest moment is being able to cheer our brothers across the stage. Many Lambdas are the first in their family to graduate from college - and we don't take the responsibility lightly.
